Creative Writing Mentoring
I am the Creative Writing Mentor with the Centre for Lifelong learning, University of Strathclyde. In this capacity I offer – through the university – mentoring and tutoring services to anyone requiring advice and editorial feedback on their writing, outside of a course context. This includes:
• Direct feedback and editorial advice on your writing.
• Tuition on particular skills, such as stronger characterisation and plotting, refining point of view, editing and revision, etc.
• Advice on other aspects of writing, including improving your writing process and submitting work for publication.

I have twenty-three years’ experience as an editor, working with a Scottish publisher mainly on non-fiction Scottish, industrial and local history titles. I also work in a freelance capacity on book projects in development – both fiction and non-fiction. If you have a writing project that is in need of detailed editorial input and advice, proofreading, or just a read-through in order to get an objective opinion, I can help.
If you are looking for an introduction to a particular aspect of creative writing or just requiring a refresher, I offer one-off private tutorials – or several – on any aspect of the subject (e.g. Character, Editing, Point of View, Improving your Style etc.).
For more information about any of these services please drop me a line to discuss your requirements at firstname.lastname@example.org
