Bio

I’ve been a professional editor since 1995 and a creative writing tutor since 2003 – qualifications include master’s degrees in both Publishing and Creative Writing (Distinction). Based in Glasgow, I teach at the Centre for Lifelong Learning, University of Strathclyde, and at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. I’ve also taught the subject at Barlinnie Prison and do an annual stint of classes at the Aye Write books festival at the Mitchell Library.

My fiction has been published in the anthologies Glasgow KissOrangelabyrinth.com, Shorts 5: The Macallan/Scotland on Sunday Short Story CollectionA Fictional Guide to ScotlandStramash, The Glasgow SeekerSnacks after Swimming and Clockworks Vol. 1. I’ve been a winner of the University of Strathclyde’s Keith Wright Memorial Literary Prize and a recipient of a Scottish Arts Council New Writer’s Bursary award. I’m also the author of six local history books.
